Presenters will take attendees through the new data protection assessments required in the US starting in 2023, for certain types of data processing activities that involve data of residents in CA, CO, CT, and VA. Clients and law firms who process individuals’ personal data for certain purposes are subject to Connecticut’s Data Privacy Act and will be required to perform “data protection assessments” of certain processing activities and keep documentation of those assessments.
Presenters will describe when an assessment needs to be performed, contrast the requirements of various states, and provide guidance on issue spotting. Attendees will walk away with the tools to understand when an assessment is needed and will be provided with scenarios and examples of what an assessment would look like.
